Refund & Cancellation Policy

Alorah Foundation is a public charitable trust. Contributions made to the Trust are donations, not payments for goods or services. This policy explains when and how a donation can be cancelled or refunded.
1. General rule
Donations, once made, are normally non-refundable. They are applied to the Trust’s charitable objects, and an 80G receipt is issued for them. This is consistent with the treatment of charitable donations under the Income-tax Act, 1961.
2. When we will refund
We will refund a donation in the following cases:
- Duplicate transaction — the same donation was charged more than once due to a technical error.
- Incorrect amount — a clear typing error (for example ₹50,000 instead of ₹5,000), reported promptly.
- Unauthorised transaction — a payment made from your account without your consent, reported to us and to your bank.
- Foreign contribution — a donation that turns out to be a foreign contribution under FCRA, which we are not permitted to accept; such amounts are returned to the source account.
3. How to request a refund
- Email alorahfoundation@gmail.com or WhatsApp +91 94861 12244 within 7 days of the transaction.
- Include your name, the amount, the date, the transaction reference / UTR, and your Donation ID if you have one.
- We verify the request against our bank records and respond within 7 working days.
4. How refunds are paid
- Approved refunds are made only to the original payment source (the same bank account, UPI ID, or card), never to a third party or in cash.
- Refunds are processed within 7–10 working days of approval; the time for the amount to reach your account depends on your bank or card network.
- If a payment gateway was used, the refund is routed through the same gateway.
5. Effect on your 80G receipt
If a donation is refunded, any 80G receipt issued for it stands cancelled and must not be used to claim a tax deduction, and the donation is excluded from our Form 10BD filing for that year.
6. Cancellation
A donation can be cancelled only before we verify and apply it. Once the 80G receipt is issued and funds are applied to charitable work, cancellation is no longer possible except in the cases listed in section 2.
