Elder care and dignity, including ambulance and funeral support

Old age without money is a lonely place. Alorah Foundation supports elderly people who live alone or are no longer cared for, and provides the help a family needs in bereavement.

What Alorah Foundation does in this cause

• Rations, medicines and monthly support for elderly people living alone.
• Help reaching pensions, ration cards and the entitlements that already exist on paper.
• Ambulance support when a family cannot arrange or afford one.
• Funeral and last rites support, so that nobody is buried or cremated without dignity.
• Grief support for the family afterwards, which is the part everybody forgets.

Who this reaches, and how we follow it

Two of the things in that list are ones no charity likes to advertise. An ambulance and a funeral are not hopeful causes and they photograph badly, and they are also two of the moments when a poor family is most completely stuck. We carry them for exactly that reason.

If you need help

If an elderly person in your family or your street needs support, or a bereaved family needs help with last rites, contact us on WhatsApp. This is the one category where a phone call is faster than a form. Assistance is offered without discrimination of caste, creed, religion or gender, and the documents you send are held privately and never published.
