Alorah Foundation is a registered charitable trust in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, carrying relief to the poor, the sick and the forgotten across India. Our work spans nine causes, from a plate of food today to a child’s schooling for a decade, and it is offered to all without discrimination.

Why nine, and not one

A family in trouble is rarely in one kind of trouble. The illness that empties the savings is also what stops the schooling, and the flood that takes the house takes the sewing machine that paid for it. Working in nine causes lets us answer the whole of a situation rather than the part that happens to match our brochure, and it is why an application to us is read as a story rather than sorted into a category.

What follows is what each cause covers, what we actually do inside it, and how to ask for help or to fund it.

Where we work

Alorah Foundation is based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and serves across India. The trust accepts donations from Indian citizens and Indian entities only. Contributions from foreign sources, including accounts held abroad by non resident Indians, can be accepted only after FCRA registration, which the trust does not hold.

How a cause becomes a funded project

A need reaches us either through an application from the public or through the work our trustees already do in the field. Once it is verified it is published as a named need with its own page, showing what is required, what has come in and what is still short. Donors fund it directly, and the project is then photographed before, after, and at one, two and five years, so a gift can be followed long after it was given. Where a beneficiary’s dignity asks for privacy, we document the outcome without photographs.
